Why "Fashville"?

My strip "Fashville" is about the wild world of style, full of designers and fashionistas out of touch with everyday life and everyday folk clueless about looking halfway decent or dressing for their fantasies.  But why a comic about fashion?  Why not?

This is the age of the Makeover Show:  What Not to Wear, Clean House, Extreme Makeover (any edition) and the rest are all about the Cinderella fantasy of changing lives by changing what's on the outside.  And right after the "big reveal", the makeover candidates supposedly go on to live stylishly ever after.

But what if the makeover candidates don't like "what they've done to the place"?  What if they turn down the $5000 Visa card and the trip to New York?  What if the plastic surgery recipients look more like drag queens than beauty queens?

This is what's at the heart of "Fashville", where you'll be meeting Trudy and her fashion-challenged boyfriend Steve; Damien, a hip hop designer whose styles are a big hit--with white guys; Misty and Suki, teen best friends whose passion for fashion gets curbed by their sensible moms; Tillie, who wants to always be "red carpet ready" even though she works as a jantress; and various others who have a clue about looking good and who need to get one.

So I hope you'll enjoy "Fashville", where it's "runway VERSUS realway--and realway wins!
